How Stacy Got Started Writing For KidsStacy had always enjoyed writing articles, essays, and stories…But one day, she decided to try writing a children’s picture book. That’s when she joined an SCBWI critique group. SCBWI is the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
Stacy’s humorous fiction story, Cleetus, The Snap Rapper, didn’t get published as a book; however, it was published in a kids’ magazine. She has since started her own SCBWI critique group, and has officially been bitten by the writing bug. - By attending critique groups and conferences, she met people who helped her navigate the publishing world. She kept writing, polishing, and submitting her work to publishers.
Finally, she got the call she was waiting for. She celebrated her book contract by eating molten chocolate cake.
